National Vegetarian Week or Hot Weather?

26th May 2012

National Vegetarian Week

Not sure whether it was National Vegetarian Week, the dazzling array of plants or the hot weather but today (26 May) saw record takings for a may Saturday morning at Sheffield Country Market.

NVW is the UK’s annual awareness-raising campaign promoting inspirational vegetarian food and the benefits of a meat-free lifestyle.

The Vegetarian Society invited the UK to throw caution to the wind during the last week to join them Vegetarian Society in a celebration of all things vibrantly veggie.

Thankfully the wind did not materialise enough to trouble our Producers but the sun in the last few days meant that we were able to display an array of local plants and produce to support our delicious home-made veggie baking.

All South Yorkshire Country Markets generally have a selection of baked goods suitable for vegetarians.  If you do not see something you want a baker will in most insiances be prepared to meet any specific needs, including those of vegans as well.
