Feast Peak Food Fayre - a first for PCM

17th October 2012

Janine Lishman-Peat, the South Yorkshire County Chair and a Producer at Penistone, declared the first ever Feast Peak Food Fayre to be "a really good event.  There were lots of customers, lots of new customers too".

The event was held on Wednesday 17 October and it was sponsored by the East Peak Innovation Partnership to celebrate and promote local food.  Local food related businesses showcased and promoted local food alongside food tastings and cooking demonstrations.

Andy Gabbitas, proprietor and chef at The Wortley Arms, and an Italian chef, Ercole Santarella who has a restaurant in southern Italy, participated as part of the transnational co-operation project.  This was supported by a discussion workshop on local food on what it means to people and what part it plays in their daily lives.

The event was held in the Market Hall at Penistone and after the formal opening by Martin Bancroft, the Chair of EPIP, the event was introduced by Janine.

The East Peak Innovation Partnership (EPIP) is delivering a community-led social and economic rural development programme across rural communities in Stocksbridge, Ecclesfield and Bradfield in North Sheffield, Penistone in West Barnsley, and Denby Dale and Kirkburton in South Kirklees. It is endorsed by and attracts funding from the European Union and the UK Government.
