Doncaster Country Markets formally closes

Doncaster Country Market formally closed as a separate Market on 16 April at the South Yorkshire Country Markets AGM.  The Market had effectively stopped trading as an external market over 12 months ago when Doncaster Council had a diiferent strategy for markets in mind and failed to provide a suitable alternative for the Country Market band of stalwarts to continue trading.

Although the Market continued for another year through telephone orders it was no longer viable to continue in that way and the producers decided to seek formal approval for closure which was granted at the SYCM AGM.  Some of the members have transferred to Tickhill and will continue to trade via the Market there every Friday morning.
